Purple is the new red, blue

The Washington Post opines that the red and blue states are rapidly becoming purple states — in effect, “The once-hardy species of conservative Democrats — so numerous in the 1980s they had a name, ‘Reagan Democrats’ — is now on the endangered list, along with the liberal ‘Rockefeller Republicans.'” Ideological divisions are now in line with party divisions.
