This happened a month ago, but two of my favorite DJs from Chicago, Steve Dahl and Garry Meier, reunited unexpectedly at Oak Street Beach when Dahl was doing a live broadcast. Meier’s been off the air for a couple of years, but I listen to Dahl podcasts regularly to keep tabs on the Windy City.
I listened to them faithfully even as the high school I went to regularly called them “Satan and Lucifer” and banned the school buses from playing them in the morning. It was the first time I heard the term “shock jock”. Here’s a clip of them from a WLUP commercial:
